STEPS Head Start & Childcare is an early childhood education program serving infants, toddlers, and preschool age children.

STEPS Head Start & Childcare’s purpose is to
provide high quality, developmentally
appropriate learning environments, foster
exploration, and encourage play.
Through our holistic 2Gen approach to services, STEPS strives to strengthen the skills of all participants and prepare children and families to be school ready.

We have a variety of program options to meet your family's needs including Head Start, Early Head Start, Mixed Delivery, subsidized and private pay childcare. Some programs are no or low cost. We use one application for enrollment and our staff will work to determine the program options that you qualify for.
2024 - 2025 weekly rate private pay childcare
$210 Infants (birth - 15 months)
$200 Toddlers (16-36 months)
$195 (preschool age 3-5 years)
$50 Registration Fee

STEPS Early Head Start serves pregnant women and their families, infants, and toddlers in Amelia, Charlotte, Lunenburg, & Prince Edward.
STEPS is a subsidized childcare provider in Prince Edward & Charlotte Counties.
STEPS offers a private childcare option in Farmville, VA
STEPS offers slots in Prince Edward through Mixed Delivery.
